Weekend of Play

Neither of us had to work this past weekend, the first in a long time, and we used our time to play and do only what we wanted to do.  We sipped espresso, devoured piles of greens - including bok choy, arugula, radish greens, and lettuce - toured an art fair, went shopping (to one store, it's all we could handle), biked to the grocery store, made arugula pesto (not as peppery as we thought it would taste, the greens are a lot more flavorful in salad), and packed a picnic for a long 4 hour hike!  We got to our hiking destination by taking the train, which is impressive because the hike felt like a remote state park.  Plus we got to scope out the mountain biking trails and decided we'll be bringing our bikes on the train for our next visit.

  2. I am really glad you both had the time off together -- and that you gave yourself permission to have FUN instead of catch up on chores! Especially after just returning from my Playwork training in NC, I am remembering that it is important for the well being of adults to have time to play -- it's not just for kids! And that playing is not just a bourgy luxury IF you have time, but that it is a necessary component of and approach to our daily lives.
